The World Cup

I wrote about Italy in the World Baseball Classic and talked about how well they did considering that Baseball is not yet a major sport in the country, well now it's my turn to talk about THE major sport in Italy, Calcio.
On Sunday, Italy will play France in the final of the World Cup. This is the most prestigious soccer tournament in the world. It happens every 4 years, and the 32 best teams make the tournament, while the other 100+ that tried to qualify are left watching.
Italy won it's group stage in the first round, by beating Ghana 2-0, tying the USA 1-1, and beating the Czech Republic 2-0. In the next leg, the Azzurri beat Australia 1-0, then in the quaterfinals, they beat the Ukraine 3-0. Just yesterday, they knocked out the host nation, Germany by winning 2-0 in overtime.
The Final will be played on Sunday the 9th in Berlin, and you can bet that all of Italy will be watching. If you haven't been following the World Cup, it's not too late to get into it, the best game is yet to come, and if you have been there every step of the way, then be sure not to miss the final two matches this weekend.
